I am a success story. I was born with a medical condition known as Congenital Hip Luxation. As a child, I underwent numerous (approximately 7 or 8) corrective surgical procedures in my native Peru. As a result of my last procedure, my left hip became fixed in the bone socket. I was unable to lift my left leg and the muscles in my leg did not develop properly.
My name is Roberto Sotomayor, 43-years-old, married and father of 3 children. I am a success story. I was born with a medical condition known as Congenital Hip Luxation. As a child, I underwent numerous (approximately 7 or 8) corrective surgical procedures in my native Peru. As a result of my last procedure, my left hip became fixed in the bone socket. I was unable to lift my left leg and the muscles in my leg did not develop properly.
As a result of this dreadful outcome, I endured a lot of physical challenges and severe pain throughout my life. Severe arthritis developed, and ultimately I required a total hip replacement on both hips.
