Overview
The variety of hip conditions treated at The Leone Center for Orthopedic Care range from arthritis-related joint destruction to the need for revision surgeries, or “re-dos,” for failure of prior orthopedic surgeries. In the case of each patient, Dr. Leone provides a diagnosis based on a thorough history of the events leading up to the present problem, a physical examination and state-of-the-art imaging as indicated. If surgery is indicated, then the most appropriate procedure is recommended—the one with the best possible outcome in terms of mobility and quality of life. Hip Conditions Seen
Hip joint destruction due to primary or secondary osteoarthritis which
can be due to congenital dysplasia or dislocation, hip trauma or fracture, failed prior surgery, inflammatory arthropathies like rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis, avascular necrosis, arthritis secondary to childhood hip diseases like Legg-Perthes disease or slipped capital femoral epiphysis.
Failed total hip replacements which can be due to loosening of the components, peri prosthetic bone loss (osteolysis), infection, recurrent dislocation, leg length inequality, pain, metal toxicity or fracture. Many of these joints have been operated on multiple times before.
Knee joint destruction due to primary or secondary osteoarthritism which can be due to trauma, angular deformity, failed prior surgery, infection, rheumatoid or inflammatory arthritis, or childhood diseases.
Failed total knee replacements which can be due to loosening or malposition of components, instability, fracture or infection.
