He pasado de una movilidad limitada y el dolor constante a sentirme como una persona nueva. Yo estaba tan contenta con el resultado de las dos cirugías que no pude dejar de decirle a nadie que quisiera escuchar.
Yo estaba tan ansiosa por primera cirugía de reemplazo de cadera. Yo había sufrido por lo menos durante 2 años con un dolor que empeorava progresivamente. Seguí a posponer la cirugía porque tenía miedo delo desconocido. Yo estaba en agonía incluso sentada o descansando; los medicamentos para el dolor ya no ayudaban. Nada ayudaba a aliviar el dolor.
Tuve mi primera cirugía, que fue un reemplazo total de la cadera izquierda el 30 de julio de 2009. Mi primera cirugía fue bien y yo no podía creer lo rápido que me recuperé. Yo tampoco podía creer que había esperado tanto tiempo, posponiendo lo inevitable, sufriendo con dolor más de lo necesario. Otros me decían que la cirugía era la mejor decisión que ellos habían tomado, pero yo era pesimista y estaba asustada; Ojalá los hubiera escuchado.
Dr. Leone y su equipo fueron increíbles. Ellos me hicieron sentir como una persona especial, y no sólo un procedimiento que estaba en su horario marcado. Explicaron lo que yo debería esperar antes y después de la cirurgía. Naturalmente, yo estaba nerviosa, pero ellos me hicieron sentir cómoda. Todo el equipo estaba allí para atenderme con profesionalismo y compasión. Tuve mi cadera derecha reemplazada el marzo de 2010. Esta vez decidí hacer la cirugía tan pronto como cuando empezo el dolor, y la recuperacion fue aún más rápida que la anterior.
